Job Title Network Engineering - Engineer

Job Summary The Network Engineer is an important contributor in ensuring that the Telstra network delivers a superior network experience for our consumer and business customers. You use your telecommunications network skills and experience to contribute to specialist analysis, design, development and deployment in specific network technology domains, including how this technology inter-operates with other technologies.

As a Network Engineer, you draw on your breadth of knowledge and expertise in related areas of network engineering and actively apply agile and/or lean ways of working to deliver on the following responsibilities:

Development of test documentation, test and deliver to agreed timelines, quality performance and customer service levels whilst minimising total cost of ownership.
Develop and/or contribute to the development of Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Readiness, Test Report documentation.
Be recognised as a Testing subject matter expert and provide expert support, consultancy, guidance and facilitation to other areas of Telstra in the preparation, business and technical evaluation of new technologies and product development.
Deploy proposed automation tools, techniques and methodologies to ensure solution and applications are tested and verified to the highest quality
Design, implement and maintain the automated test cases, scripts and libraries
Identify the modularity within a test case which can be separated as a reusable logic
Identify process improvements and contribute to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice. Automate test methods or source off the shelf test equipment
Apply emphasis on Customer Experience testing
Perform ad hoc/exploratory testing methodically to ensure system is working as expected by end user
Work with CI / CD framework and build test automation to help with various projects
Provide Defect management and root cause analysis
Analysis of testing reports to determine the products and/or network platforms suitability to operate
Support project Test Program Managers/Leads and Analysts
Translating customer needs and requirements, into realisable and commercially viable products, services, or systems and/or networks infrastructure.
Contributing to ensuring that network components and systems interact with Telstra processes and systems to deliver market leading customer experiences. You do this by using your expertise and experience of specific domain components to address related incidents, problems and upgrades to optimise network performance.
Contributing to assessing capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and assist in managing vendor performance and technology delivery.
Developing depth / advanced levels of knowledge over a current domain by engaging in continuous learning through formal development, coaching and seeking feedback.
Contributing to the development of technology guidelines and standards to be used by Chapter and/or business unit members in the design and deployment of network technologies.
Using your sound interpersonal and influencing skills to authentically collaborate with mission or project team members and stakeholders to deliver defined work objectives.
To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

Essential

Bachelor of Engineering/Telecommunications (or equivalent)
Experience in Network Testing and Software Test methodologies
Experience in development test automation practices and tools
Experience in API-based automation and exposure to GUI-based automation
Working knowledge of tools JIRA, Bamboo, Confluence, SVN, Bitbucket, Azure, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux/ubuntu
Working knowledge of Micro services
Knowledge on Network Cloud, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN)
Experience in both Product & Network roll outs following Agile, Waterfall, DevOps processes.
Highly Desirable:

ISTQB and/or ITIL certified highly regarded
Experience with different programming languages –Python, Java, JavaScript, JSON, Shell scripting, Curl, TCL, Unix, Ericsson CLI
Working experience on Test Automation framework – Robot Frame work
DevOps / Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment exposure preferred
Good technical knowledge of wireless technology and networks. Areas such as 3G, 4G, OSS/BSS, IN, prepaid and post-paid services, with knowledge in provisioning and billing is highly desirable.
