The Global HR Tower delivers core HR services and defines, designs and brings to life an integrated end 2 end employee experience through data, process and systems.


The role will not have direct budget responsibility but will need to be financially aware of their responsibilities and remain budget conscious and compliant. Responsible to support and simplify global HR processes through Workday and associated HR application improvements therefore impacts all areas of our business. Within Workday we have over 20,000 employee records across 70 countries.

Market Complexity

Internal: Process Governance Managers, First point / GHRO, Global & Market HR, Global IS Operations, Data Governance Team

External: Workday & any other 3rd party delivering technical support to Diageo

These relations will encompass people based in a variety of locations and across multiple culture, languages and time-zones.

Leadership Responsibilities:

The role has no direct reports but will work closely with Tech COE / 3rd party and the rest of the HR Process Governance, First Point, GRO and Workday Support teams.
The Process SME role is to support and simplify global HR processes end to end and systems through process and technical improvements.
The role will be the key liaison between Market HR and DBS Workday support and the 3rd party system support.
Supports the engagement and embedment activities across Workday deployed markets.

Ensure the project and process improvement activities deliver the improvement and value realization but also embed simplification and standardization.

Purpose of Role:

This is a global role which has the objective to act as guardian of global HR processes and put controls in place as necessary to govern the processes across the organization

This role will also lead the governance objectives as a key member of strategic business change projects and improvement initiatives. The role will also be expected to investigate business process issues or business requirements and develop process and or technical solutions to these issues.

This role will be the internal subject matter expert on HCM systems and global HR process and will have particular expertise on one or more process area specialties to facilitate and drive delivery of HR process performance in line with globally agreed expectations.

The role will also establish and/or track process metrics to measure performance of processes.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities:

HR Process subject matter expert - Process expert for the HR Process Governance Team, HR Services and the wider HR function. Maintain an end to end process lens and external perspective on best in class process and apply to improvements. Ensure effective and efficient use of the investment in our HR systems.
Process Governance Design and Deliver solutions aligned with our HR Strategy. Govern HR processes and develop improvement plans in needed areas. Build the controls and KPIs in place for effective process governance.
HCM system subject matter expert Develop a good understanding of HCM system enabling the HR processes and provide specialist support as need to the HR Process Governance Team, Global HR Operations and the wider HR function. Plays a key role in partnership across the Tech Workday support teams and HR Operations teams to manage HRIS upgrades.
Process Change Improvement / Management -. Build process knowledge and capability within HR and the GHRO teams. Plays a key role in process standardization. Initiate global changes, drive implementation and change management. Create possibilities to optimise, simplify and automate end to end HR process and cross functional processes impacting HR.
Stakeholder Management & Project Management Plays a key role in highlighting process performance issues to leadership team and governance bodies for resolution. As subject matter experts on HR business processes, required to work within project teams and with senior functional stakeholders to interpret business requirements into system functional specifications and process design.

Qualifications and Experience Required: At least 4 to 5 years overall and Minimum 2 year experience working across HR processes and systems
Hands on exposure to HRIS systems and good understanding of how HR system enables various HR processes
Experience interpreting business requirements, recognizing impact on business processes, and making recommendations
Experience of process mapping end to end and competent using Visio or similar tools
Lean/6 Sigma experience would be advantageous
Ability to solve problems, diagnose issues and develop appropriate solutions
Proven track record as a collaborative team player, able to work in a cross functional project team and collaborate to deliver to ambitious timelines
Strong communications skills both written and verbal
Ruthless attention to detail
Good organisational understanding
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word & PowerPoint

Barriers to Success in Role: Lack of understanding of how HRIS enables various HR processes
Lack of HR Process knowledge and/or process improvement orientation
Inability to identify and deliver process and / or technical solutions to business requirements
Inability to communicate effectively and manage key business stakeholders
