M074 | MBA Consultant

Job Description

Join a startup that has grown 10x in the past 1 year. If you are a problem-solver with a growth mindset, entrepreneurial, adventurous, and absolutely love facing challenges and devising strategies to tackle them, then this is the job for you.

MBA & Beyond is a global admission consulting startup for applicants who dare to question their purpose with a global MBA. We help purpose-driven applicants make it to the top business schools.

We are here to disrupt the Admissions Consulting space that has been working traditionally for decades.

Position Description

MBA Consultants work directly with MBA & Beyond’s clients to guide them through the MBA admissions process, either “from start to finish” as part of our all-in package services, on an hourly basis, or in the form of targeted pre-application services, including mock interview sessions and reviews of unsuccessful previous applications. In addition, consultants engage as a team during weekly staff calls, help us in product development, and contribute to projects that help develop and grow the company’s business.

The role

As an MBA admissions consultant, you’ll work with applicants to top MBA programs. You must be:

- A sensitive listener who can help applicants to develop their personal stories. You already know that schools don’t just want to see a resume and a pile of grades and test scores. They want to understand the person behind them, and successful essays often cover deeply personal topics, such as ethnic identity, family history, or personal failures and weaknesses. An MBA admissions consultant must win the trust of applicants to be successful in this area.
- A great editor to help applicants with the essays and recommendations involved.
- A mentor who can help young professionals to plan the right career path and present themselves to others effectively, with a special focus on typical pre- and post-MBA fields, such as consulting, strategy, finance, and technology.
- An expert — or budding expert — on top MBA programs, the MBA application process, and the experience of being an MBA student. Having an MBA may help, but is not required and does not, in itself, qualify you for the role.
- You’ll work with MBA applicants whom we have pre-screened for being coachable and realistic. We want applicants who will listen to your advice, and who are likely to succeed after implementing it. You can expect to build deep relationships with your candidates and to be showered in gratitude after helping them to achieve their goals.

- Manage client relationships while providing strategic guidance on school selection, essays, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall admissions process
- Work closely with clients to create effective essays and resumes by giving them direction on structure, editing their work, and helping them craft strong narratives, while maintaining their voice
- Conduct free consultations to educate potential clients about their candidacies
- Conduct webinars at least twice a month to educate potential clients about our process and approach.
- Proactively stay up-to-date on the MBA admissions process and programs to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate school selection and the nuances of applying to business school
- Contribute to firm business development (e.g., contribute to product development, conduct presentations, create consultant resources, develop new revenue streams)

- Admissions experience strongly preferred
- Excellent written and oral communications; a portfolio of published work or reasonable proxy required (e.g., ad copy or Web sites, or have served as editor of a publication); strong presentation skills
- MBA from top business school preferred(preferably top 20 listed by FT)
- Capacity to work well independently and the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks within demanding deadlines
- Ability to “connect” with people and build rapport with potential and current clients
- Personable demeanor and comfort with public speaking
- Availability and flexibility to work seasonal hours, which may include weekday evenings and weekends
- Time Commitment

The Senior Consultant role is considered for a full-time position/part-time position.
