Job DescriptionReporting into the IT Director – Stream or IT Director S&A the IT Business Partner is pivotal in enabling Information Technology to ensure that:The business stream delivers its business objectives.BSI and the relevant business stream achieve maximum value from investment in and use of technologyWe maximise the value gained from Information Technology within relevant business streamAdditionally, this role is to be a trusted business partner to the business stream generally and more specifically, the Stream’s Leaders.The IT Business Partner will also be a primary IT contact for the defined business area and geography in which they are located.The role will also be a representative of IT within the business stream and be instrumental in contributing to the IT agenda within the business stream and ensure it’s relevance to the business.The role will also assist in ensuring alignment between the business stream and the broader BSI IT strategy.Responsibilities.Our IT Business partner works effectively with senior members of the business and IT stakeholders, conducting investigations and assuring the feasibility of proposed solutions. They also ensure that a holistic view is taken of the business situations, and that stakeholder perspectives are identified and analysed with a view to achieving consensus.You will ensure that business objectives and requirements are understood and provide a context with which recommended solutions are aligned and also advise senior stakeholders on business change priorities within the context of the organisational strategy and objectives.Our IT Business Partner takes responsibility for work to investigate business problems and opportunities, and specify required changes to business processes, people skills, information, technology and organisation structures and roles. They also select, apply and monitor the use of modelling and analysis techniques, methods and standards in an informed and proficient way.Utilises business knowledge and experience to assess and advise on the feasibility and relevance of proposed options for business and technical change.Takes responsibility for the management of stakeholder relationships across different levels of seniority.Responsible for business case development through the identification and definition of business and technical options that will address the business objectives and requirements, and the analysis of the costs, benefits, risks and impacts for each option.Advises and influences executive management throughout the business change lifecycle to ensure that change initiatives are aligned with the strategy and enterprise architecture.Writes and presents fluently and persuasively on all aspects of business analysis work and communicates effectively with executives and staff at all levels and grades, and with external audiences in both public and organisational forums.Creates, manages and maintains a robust set of reporting about demand and its influence and impact on the operating model. This will include how the metrics are derived and assumptions and limitations on the metrics. Establishes process to show trends in the metric measures.Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies, products, services, methods and techniques. For example, monitors product release notices, academic research and other learned publications, and seeks relevant information from technology providers and researchers.Actively supports and engages with experts and stakeholders through all stages of the contract lifecycle, to ensure continuous improvements are identified through, for example, review and benchmarking processes.Facilitates the decision-making processes related to business change, and the planning and implementation of change. Monitors the level of client satisfaction and responds to queries, complaints and requests.Identifies and responds to the key business drivers and those areas of business need which are not adequately supported by current and planned IT, within the strategic planning time frame.Develops responses to business requirements, and produces business cases for recommended new applications of information and communications technologies. Understand limitations imposed by Technical Debt and seeks strategies and mechanisms to mitigate limitations.Understands the Business Architecture for the business stream aligning to business functions, the business strategy and the competitive landscape and describes the architecture in different ways for different audiences.Contributes to the development of solutions architecture for specific business or functional areas, using appropriate tools and methods.Manages suppliers to meet key performance indicators and agreed targets as and when requiredUses suppliers' expertise to support and inform development roadmaps.Essential High levels of communication with clients and stakeholders at all levels, individually and in groups.Possesses an extensive knowledge of business and business skills, in more than one business sector, and understands the significance of commercial constraints.Demonstrates a strong awareness of the uses of IT within industry and specifically within competitive or associated organisations operating in the same market.Demonstrates an awareness of trends in wider industry and anticipates associated implications.Can acquire and understand insights regarding underlying issues in complex problems or situations.Keeps organisational objectives and strategies in mind and can ensure courses of action are aligned with the strategic context.Understands commercial considerations and ensures alignment when making decisions or recommending actions.Possess an ability to take innovative approaches to problem solving and/or devising inventive and creative solutions.Can understand the hierarchy and culture of own, customer, supplier and partner organisations and being able to identify the decision makers and influencers.Conveys a level of confidence and professionalism when engaging with stakeholders, influencing positively and persuading others to take a specific course of action when not in a position of authority.Understands techniques for analysing and re-designing business processes which have been modelled.Ability to deliver effective and accessible presentations, either face-to-face or online within various contexts and to a variety of audiences.Demonstrates and understanding of principles, processes and practices associated with consultancy in the IT environment.
